Temie Speaks: Husband or Sperm Donor???

Back in the days, women (our mothers) would do anything to keep their marriages and strive to make it work. They endured a lot of hardship just to remain married. Some did it because of their children, others might have endured because they needed to remain Mrs.Somebody.  Whatever their reasons might have been, these strong super women stayed married no matter the cost. Their husbands (our fathers) were either cheats or physical and verbal abusers, or all of the above, you name it. Women back in those days might be independent and successful but they never owned up to it as many gave up all they had to get a man out of fear that they might not be able to get a man otherwise. They did not want him to get intimidated by their car(s), job, house and any other form of accomplishment.  Some women, who were not strong enough to endure, got divorced as expected. The others continue to persevere even till this very moment. You know them, our mothers, and older aunties. Personally, I did

A Good Woman

By allowing you play video games with your boys or joins you, she doesn't complain you are too addicted to football, instead she supports your team and share every emotion you feel when your team loses or wins, makes her a good woman? She cares about you, supports you, encourages you, is never quick to judge you, listens to you and advises you. She knows your greatest fear is failure, failure of not being the best boyfriend or potential best husband and father, successful at work and everything in between. So she definitely understands you need to give work attention. When you get too attentive to your job than you should to her, she knows how to get that attention back on her subtly. She's good all by herself, she's an asset! She's no idler, maybe a career woman, maybe not. She certainly won't suck up to you for everything because she's holding it down on her own. In the midst of this, she's very homely and understands the concept of a marri

A Good Man

Is a man who calls his woman at least thrice a day, once in the morning when he wakes, at lunch, when he about to have his first real meal, and at night to share how his day went, hear hers too while they plan to conquer the world together just before he kisses her goodnight,                                               REAL? He uses her pictures on every social media platform he finds available even if he's not a big fan of P.D.A (public display of affection), if it makes her happy. He sings or mimes to songs that remind him of her, record his voice and sends to her. He knows the right thing to do. He buys her gifts, sometimes big, sometimes small. He shows off because he's proud of her. He let's go of his ego completely, she's his ego now. He pushes her to be all the best she can be. When she's upset, even if its for the wrong reasons, he apologizes. He's not weak, far from it. He just doesn't want the argument to linger, he always wants her

More On The Tortured Toddler

I'm sure you've seen the video of the innocent baby that was beaten heartlessly by her father's househelp in Uganda.  Rumors are making the rounds already that the two - year old has passed on. This hasn't been confirmed yet by the parents of the child as they say their baby although terribly beaten is alive and recuperating. The househelp in question is 22 years old from Rukungiri District, Uganda. Below are some of the pictures of the baby and her father. So innocently beautiful a child.

The Most Horrific Video I've Seen In A Very Long Time

As I was going through my instagram pictures early this morning, I noticed a particular video made rounds on different handles. So I took a look at that of @senseiuche and what I watched was very displeasing and disheartening. Apparently, the lady in question seem to be a nanny catering for the child. The child while being fed threw up maybe she was ill and couldn't consume so much food.

Rapee and Rapist

Last month a story about an alleged rape incident was reported by The Punch Newspaper. According to it, an unidentified suspect was killed while trying to rape 22 year old Ifeoma Okechukwu. The incident happened at about 12:30 pm, around Atlantic View Estate, Alpha Beach Road, Lekki. She told reporters that she was on her menstrual period and had gone to get sanitary pads. As she was returning from a supermarket she noticed she was being followed and suddenly accosted by a man in his forties. He insisted she took him home and threatened to kill her if she didn't comply so she did. As they entered her home, he ordered her to take off her clothes, he wanted to rape her. She began to beg and of course he didn't listen to her.

Mummy North!

Guys, I have come again o!. This time, its about a certain Mummy North. I will gist you all that happened since yesterday till now. Imagine how just a few photographs can stir up the world. Power of Social Media or perhaps InstaMedia (Instagram) So I was told Mummy North was on her own when Paper magazine walked up to her, requesting that she'd be the cover girl for their #breaktheinternet issue. As a sharp 34 year old nursing mother of Armenian blood, such an offer must not pass her by. Considering the amount she was going to get from it which by now we know would be no chicken fee.  My very reliable sources say it was actually Mama North that suggested the nude photos to The Paper Magazine.  Even its director told us that Mummy North said 'if we are gonna do it, let's really go there'.  According to him, it was Mummy North's idea to take off her clothes and show more butt. She was willing to take off her clothes.... Hmmmm, things we watch on TV. She must have

Venting Tuesday : Convo With A Scammer

When will these scammers learn? Yes, scammers!!! Ever got a text message from a weird number telling you you have just won a large sum of money courtesy a popular brand? Or, perhaps, a strange phone-call from 'a long lost relative, friend, old school mate' and everything in between telling you how much he/she has missed you and would love to see you again after so many years ...blah-blah-blah Apparently, those examples I gave fall under the electronic type of duping (scam), other types of the electronic duping include email advanced fees, plishing . The face to face duping is another type of scam. Here, the fraudsters come to their victim in person, inviting them to participate in a too good to be true deal. They tell the victim he need not worry about money anymore because the deal they are offering will save him from being financially handicap for life. They even engage their victim in a discussion depending on the type of deal involved. The term 'scammer' is a

Paint My Lip PURPLE: Jordana "Fiesta" Lippie

I never thought I'd be the type to follow trends especially when it comes to a fashion item such as lipstick. Dark lip colours especially purple are very much in vogue this season, and I caught the bug. Since then, I've been patiently wishing for a dark purple lip shade, and a not too pricey one as well. The others I know like Mac's Rebel happen to be quite pricey here in Lagos, Nigeria. My wish was granted when I went make-up shopping and sighted this beauty in purple starring at me...Jordana's Fiesta Lipstick

Have A Laugh Wednesday

The month of October is gradually coming to a close in two days.Quite an eventful month for most Nigerians. From her 54th Independence, Eid-el-fitri etc. One of the things I wont forget in a hurry are the display pictures I saw all month through, courtesy various social media sites. I must admit Nigerians have great sense of humor, amid what we go through daily, we still try to enjoy ourselves and make the best of it.  I'd like to share my Top 10 Hilarious Display Pictures of this month (October).... From 10 to 1. Disclaimer: This is not intended to insult or condemn anyone, tribe, name etc. Its just having a laugh. Don't take it personally. Thank you.

Venting Tuesday: Respect Ko, Respect Ni.....Mschew!!!

Since when did marriage become a criterion to weigh how one should be respected? Why are women always against themselves? Is being respected a birthright or should be earned? One of the things I find interesting about being a Nigerian lady is that we are respectful or perhaps seem to be.  The average Nigerian female is so keen about respect that even among her committee of friends, she expects that someone she's probably three years older than must refer to her as 'Aunty' or 'Sister' and never call her by her first name. I personally think this is very archaic. I once had a girl tell me I ought to respect her because we are not on the same level any longer now she's married and has a child. To think this is someone I knew before she acquired marital status and became a mother.

How Long, Is Too Long?

I got a lot of  feedback  concerning my previous post on standards ; one very interesting question in one of the mails asked how long a relationship should last before it tolls the marriage road. This question is not alien to many of us especially those in committed, marriage-bound relationships. It has been asked over and over again and I’m not sure if it will stop coming up in several discussions every now and then; this is because people are starting relationships per second while some are still growing. It’s quite surprising that this thought pattern is often times linked to the ladies, especially when they hit their late twenties or early thirties. It becomes a topic among single sisters when they get to attend weddings almost every Saturday or have to congratulate a friend who just got engaged.  Dele said “I wonder why my girlfriend expects me propose to her now because all her friends are getting married or getting engaged already.I think its when we are both prepar

Game or Simply Lame

I was having one of my chitchat moments with a close friend and the topic 'Standards' was raised. It was then I realized that many dating couples have too high standards they expect of each other thus many single people or broken marriages. Everyone has standards, they keeps us motivated to do our best, but often times these standards cause undue stress. Some often impose their standards on their loved ones; this is a new source of stress and frustration for partners who feel they cannot meet these expectations. I'm not saying standards are not good or unhealthy in relationship, I only think it shouldn't determine how much or how far the relationship should go. It also shouldn't be a criterium to determine if the relationship will lead to marriage but then again who is to blame? The partner with unattainable standards or the one who isn't truthful to him or herself and believes these standards can be reached.

For The Love of Jordana (True Red and Holiday Red)

I'm writing on something a bit different today, and like my blog description says "This, that and so much more". So every now and then I'll be dropping some beauty product reviews, food recipes and and travelogue.  This is my first, so after you've read, tell me what you think. I've been itching to review this product a long time ago but I wasn't convinced....yet. Until I purchased two new shades which I really love. This product is not as popular as MAC, Wet n Wild etc but it is very affordable, I got mine 500Naira in one of Lagos most popular markets, Balogun in Nigeria.

Thank Me Later...

Girlies!!! be honest. What would you do if you found out that your precious Brazilian, Mongolian, Peruvian, Cambodian, European, Fumi, Remy and what not was actually made of goat hair??? hehehe Its no longer news that many of these weaves, wigs and hair extensions are got from China. It is big business over there but what we don't know is that a large quantity of these weaves are mixed with goat hair.

My take on 'The Bird Woman' Tale.

I was on my own when I got these funny mails of a bird that turned to a woman in broad daylight. I mean, this only happens on nkan mbe and the like but hey, they say it happened for real and here is what I gathered. Some eyewitnesses claim a mysterious bird was flying around Cappa Bus Stop, Oshodi, Lagos when suddenly it crashed into high tension wires, dropped to the ground and immediately turned to woman whose body was severely burnt. One of Nigeria's foremost newspaper, Punch reported that when its correspondent visited the area, a policeman at the junction said the woman was coming from Agbado Ijaiye area of Lagos, and was heading to her husband's place in Mushin, also in Lagos. He added that the woman claimed she has magical powers and had killed a lot of people. She was returning to her husband's place before the incident. After all said and done, my question is WHERE IS THE PICTURE OF THE BIRD?  What do you think? SOURCES: ( PUNCH )

Nudies, why so important?

DISCLAIMER: This article is subject to the writer's opinion. please keep religious beliefs out of this.                                                                                                                                                              N udies is a cute term to describe nude pictures and 'nudes' according to Urban Dictionary is a picture of a semi-clothed/ unclad human body in a beautifully, artistic, idealized manner.  I presume everyone knows about the controversial word 'nudies'. This digital sexual behavior is part of dating and relationship landscape. I know some relationships have ended over it; potential relationships haven't even started because of it. It is indeed a highly controversial topic among modern day a

BUGLICIOUS

So while I was trying to mind my business, I stumbled on this. I hear it is the most delicious bug in Nigeria. It is also a major delicacy for those that live in the Eastern part of Nigeria and South South as well.  Its the Palm Weevil Larvae and Pupae (Rhynochophorus Ferrugineus) The  Palm Tree Weevil Larvae (raw) Roasted Palm Weevil Larvae They are either eaten raw, fried or roasted. Its high protein content makes it very nutritious.   Palm Weevil Pupae The palm weevil is a priced delicacy in southern part of Nigeria. Very common in warri and sapele.  Some call it ' DUN '. Ever tried this grub, please share your experience. I'd love to read them. Live, Love and Learn.

WHAT YOU THINK?

I had this friend from Benue State while i was still in presentation school. she gave me a different definition of love,  the display of love she and her boyfriend showed would have made Romeo and Juliet jealous if they were alive. It was evident how in love these two were and they  didn't  even try to hide it. Even more fascinating was that they were states apart, he was working and residing the South South of Nigeria while she in the west. Regardless, he was always with her and she with him. Phone calls, emails, blackberry and all forms of social media. They were in each other's space. Ordinarily, one would have thought their  relationship would fizzle out in no time but NO W AY. They kept connecting and communicating every way possible. she'd take pictures of how she looked, what she cooked, where she went and all that, he also did the same. Sweet is the most appropriate word to describe their relationship,. Fast forward  and its 3 years now since 2011, they a

LIVING IN LAGOS CHRONICLES BY YOURS TRULY 2

By popular demand, I present to you the concluding part of the blogbuster 'LIVING IN LAGOS CHRONICLES BY YOURS TRULY. Click on this link  LIVING IN LAGOS CHRONICLES BY YOURS TRULY Honestly, I wasn't hypnotized in any way neither was I under a spell of some sort, at least thats what I tell anyone that asks. But was I? A question I keep asking myself till date, I hope at the end of this, you might be able to give me an answer. Story begins..... We drove off to somewhere in Coates Str, EbuteMetta,Lagos Mainland to be precise. We got off the car and made an agreement not to expose the source of the money to the baba, we would tell him that we found the money in a land we plan to buy in Agbara, Lagos. We walked into a sawmill then to a small yard was where we stopped. As we waited for the almighty 'BABA' to come out, I quivered in fear. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea, 'I better opt out now', I said to myself. Just as I was about to let my thoughts

LIVING IN LAGOS CHRONICLES BY YOURS TRULY

Its been a minute yeah, I know and I've missed you. After a conversation with some friends, I finally got inspired to write about one of my Living in Lagos Chronicles. As much as every memory of this incident surprises me, I find a reason or two to laugh real hard and even consider acting...lol. The initial plan on this fateful morning was to go to work as usual but then that bad angel whispered evil thoughts of where I could go to and would have more fun (unholy) obviously, #imnosaint!. So I changed routes and headed to ........... story for another day. I had enough opportunities to change my mind because I was so unlucky from the very beginning. First, I had to sit in a bus for 2 good hours trying to wait for passengers and of course they never came. I got impatient, got off the bus and went to some other bus stop. Luckily I found one, it took me to Costain. At least I was a bit close to my destination, Surulere. Then I began to wait again at the Costain
