BREAKING NEWS: Fashola gets juiciest appointment as Minister of Works, Power and Housing

After a long wait of 6 months, Nigeria's President Mohammadu Buhari swore in his ministers and named the designated portfolio of his ministers earlier today. He appointed 25 official ministers and 11 State Ministers.




Of the list, I looked forward to Babatunde Raji Fashola's portfolio. When it was announced, I was quite impressed.

 Babatunde Raji Fashola: The most recent Ex-Governor of Lagos State will be in charge of  Ministry of Works, Power and Infrastructure. This is the biggest portfolio of the 36 ministerial appointments. 
I have no doubt in my mind that BRF will deliver. My only hope is that the permanent secretaries under his ministry will maintain his performance culture. I am hoping for better electricity and better roads.
Secondly, yet again a woman has changed with the mandate to head the Ministry of Finance. Kemi Adeosun, an economist and chartered accountant was appointed today as the Minister of Finance. This goes contrary to general belief that women in power are not fantastic money managers. If PMB believes she'll deliver, I believe she will too.

Game or Simply Lame

I was having one of my chitchat moments with a close friend and the topic 'Standards' was raised. It was then I realized that many dating couples have too high standards they expect of each other thus many single people or broken marriages. Everyone has standards,they keeps us motivated to do our best, but often times these standards cause undue stress. Some often impose their standards on their loved ones; this is a new source of stress and frustration for partners who feel they cannot meet these expectations. I'm not saying standards are not good or unhealthy in relationship, I only think it shouldn't determine how much or how far the relationship should go. It also shouldn't be a criterium to determine if the relationship will lead to marriage but then again who is to blame? The partner with unattainable standards or the one who isn't truthful to him or herself and believes these standards can be reached.
