Hot Tea: Nigeria to Witness A Lunar Eclipse This Month

I can still vividly remember the very first time I experienced a Lunar Eclipse in Nigeria. I was a bit younger at the time but not too young to have a boyfriend. I literally began to confess all my sins thinking the world was about to come to an end and I certainly didn't want to go to hell.

Well, according to The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), on the 28th of September, there will be a Lunar Eclipse in Nigeria.

A Lunar eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when the earth comes in-between the sun and the moon, and the earth casts its shadow on the moon, so that the moon appears reddish.

According to a statement signed by NASRDA’S Deputy Director, Media and Corporate Communication, Mr. Felix Ale, in Abuja, the lunar eclipse would begin on Monday the 28th of September from 1:11 am, and will be at its Maximum by 3:47 am while it is expected to reach its final contacts at 6:22 am.

“The lunar eclipse, which is also called the blood moon, will be observed in some regions around the world".

Nigerians have been advised not to panic, and to go about their normal activities as it is just an astronomical event which will last for 5 hours, 11 minutes.

“Some of the regions seeing at least some parts of the eclipse include, Europe, South/East Asia, Africa, much of North America, much of South America, Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans, Arctic and Antarctica”, the statement read.

The agency also said the eclipse will be viewed in less clouded locations in Nigeria.

“Furthermore, the lunar eclipse will be visible in Abuja, and would begin from 1:11am, with total eclipse at 3:47am, and end by 6:22am..

Game or Simply Lame

I was having one of my chitchat moments with a close friend and the topic 'Standards' was raised. It was then I realized that many dating couples have too high standards they expect of each other thus many single people or broken marriages. Everyone has standards,they keeps us motivated to do our best, but often times these standards cause undue stress. Some often impose their standards on their loved ones; this is a new source of stress and frustration for partners who feel they cannot meet these expectations. I'm not saying standards are not good or unhealthy in relationship, I only think it shouldn't determine how much or how far the relationship should go. It also shouldn't be a criterium to determine if the relationship will lead to marriage but then again who is to blame? The partner with unattainable standards or the one who isn't truthful to him or herself and believes these standards can be reached.
